We all know how dreadful an Australian summer can be and surviving them, well that is another story. I don't know about you but waking up on a scorching hot summers day can be unbearable, and the only way to cool off is to jump into a cold shower if you don't have access to a pool or the beach.
I can tell you this, there is another way to cool you off this summer and it is good for you as well...... SMOOTHIES
Yeah I know! you might be thinking "really? that?, that was so last year" or "no one has time for that" or "yeah I am not hoping on that train"
Sorry, but not only are smoothies great for cooling off, they also come with plenty of healthy benefits. So stay with me
WHAT ARE THE BENEiFTS
- Enhanced nutrition absorption
- increased energy
- improved digestion
- boost your immune
- promote healthy bones
- promote healthy heart
- promote glowing skin
- consume fruits and veggies without realising
- stay fuller for longer
- reduced cravings
- catch up on fibre
And these are just a few
What you put in your body determines the health of it. Smoothies are a great way of stating off your day healthy and filled with good nutrients.
The more you add the better
My fav go to smoothie is my berry, banana, mango smoothie! (including a whole bunch of seeds and powders to give it a good kick)
Why is this my go to fav?
Well I can buy frozen mangos and berries cheap so win for me
Mango
- helps with digestion
- promotes healthy gut
- boosts immunity
- lowers cholesterol
- clears the skin
- it is sweet
-makes the smoothie thick
Berries
- filled with antioxidants
- filled with vitamins
- help promote healthy skin
- improve brain function
- increase immunity
- Gives it a pink/purple colour
Banana
- potassium
- good for gut health
- promote healthy skin
- It is banana, we all know how good they are and they make the smoothie creamy
So all up in this smoothie you are getting 5 fruits in one sitting that helps with skin, gut and brain health, improves immunity, and gives most of the vitamins one needs
As for the little elements I like to add
- Cinnamon (boost metabolism)
- Turmeric (reduce inflammation and help with the skin)
- Green superfoods powder
- Chia seeds (healthy fats, filled with omega 3, good for digestion, healthy of cardiovascular health, healthy brain and healthy skin)
- Flax seeds (Filled with fibre, protein, antioxidants, good fo you skin, high in omega 3)
- Honey (rich in vitamins, iron, calcium, magnesium ect)
- protein powder (if you live a plant based diet protein is hard to consume so I add some in from Bare Blends. This helps me increase my protein intake, improves skin nail and hair health, boosts metabolism and promotes lean body)
And finish it off with water (hydration is key my dudes)
AND THAT IS MY GO TO SMOOTHIE
I try to keep my smoothies as natural and to the point as I know what I am putting in my body is healthy and good for me.
I try to encourage doing it, as it can help your body in the long run, they are delicious, and great for summer. Not to add can help with weight management ;)
So no matter what fruit or veggie you add and the added extras you are fuelling your body with so many nutrients and vitamins you would not really consume throughout the day.
Just try to stay away from the ice-cream and the milk as well as any added sugar, that just defeats the purpose of this and it ain't good for your health.
